How Our Boards Are Made
Every Elemnt surfboard is built to order in Australia rather than pulled from finished stock.
The process starts with choosing the right model, size, colour, and fin system, then moves through construction, glassing, finishing, and final preparation before delivery or collection.
Built around the way the board should surf
Each model begins with a clear purpose: how easily it should paddle, where it should generate speed, how it should transition from rail to rail, and how much hold, release, or glide it should provide.
Outline, rocker, rail shape, bottom contours, tail shape, and fin placement are all part of creating that feel.
Standard PU/Poly construction
Our standard made-to-order construction is PU/Poly.
Core: High-density polyurethane foam
Stringer: Timber stringer
Resin: Polyester resin
Deck glassing: 6oz + 4oz fibreglass
Bottom glassing: 6oz fibreglass
Fin reinforcement: Additional 4oz fin patch
This construction gives the board a familiar, responsive feel underfoot while providing the strength required for regular surfing.
Epoxy options
Epoxy construction may also be available as a paid upgrade on selected boards. If you want to discuss an alternative construction, contact us before ordering.
Fin systems
Choose between FCS II and Futures when ordering. Your board is built with the fin system selected on the order.
Colour and finish
Each model is offered in a selected range of colours. Because surfboards are individually made and finished, small variations in tone and appearance are part of the process.
Build time
Current build time is approximately four weeks. This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed completion date, and timing can vary with workshop capacity, materials, curing, and finishing requirements.
Why made to order?
Building to order lets us keep the range focused, avoid carrying unnecessary finished stock, and give surfers more control over the board they are buying.
